Grades 3 - 5

Winter 2021: S204C07 - Young Scientists & Engineers 4

This course is designed for students in grades 3-4 interested in learning general science topics at an accelerated pace. The 10-week long session introduces topics in biology (first 5 weeks) and chemistry (last 5 weeks). Some examples of lesson topics include diffusion & osmosis, genetics, acids & bases, and biochemistry.

The topics for each lesson are approximately one to two grade levels ahead of the science taught in school. Classes are structured as half-lecture and half-lab. The lab for each class will relate to the lesson they have learned for that day. Students will have guided notes and lab worksheets to fill out while following along with the class. For homework, students will work on a session-long project that they will present on the last class.
